The perfect rug has the ability to pull a whole room together. I’ve partnered with Loloi Rugs to add the perfect vintage-inspired, family-friendly rug to our playroom. Keep reading for my review of Loloi Rugs! Loloi gifted this rug, however, all opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links

It is week seven of the One Room Challenge! In case you’ve missed it, you can click here to find all my ORC posts. With the final reveal next week, I wanted to take some time to share one of the first elements I sourced for this room!

The Power of a Good Rug

I love finding rugs for our home. All the community spaces in our home are hardwood – beautiful maple. Even though I love our flooring, adding area rugs brings coziness and comfort to our living spaces. My husband is very familiar with the ‘musical rugs game that happens quarterly in our home. Honestly, switching up your rug is an easy way to refresh a space! With kids that are MESSY, finding a rug that is durable, as well as beautiful, is super important to me – enter Loloi.

What I Love about Loloi

Prior to partnering for this challenge, I had already purchased a few Loloi Rugs for our home. Loloi has a wide variety (but not too many!) of beautiful rugs to compliment any home. I especially love their power-loomed rug options because they have the look of an intricate, vintage rug, but are durable and affordable for a family home.

Loloi has collaborated with some of my favorite designers to offer collaborative collections – like Amber Lewis and Chris Loves Julia. There are also a variety of collections that feature neutral hand-tufted wool pile, antique-inspired power-loomed options, and more.

The Final Pick

I’m not the best at making decisions (hence this room being unfurnished for the better part of five years). When I first looked over the different options, I was overwhelmed. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the rug options that are out there, here’s what I recommend.

Stop. Revisit your mood board for your room. Don’t have one? Go back, and make one! Figuring out your aesthetic and the general feel of the room will make it tremendously easier to narrow down a large selection. When in doubt, you can’t go wrong with a neutral rug option.

If the room you’re updating has adjoining rooms via an open floor plan, it may be worth considering some sort of unifying element (color, texture, and style) so that your home flows well from room to room. The majority of floor coverings already in our home are primarily cream and gray, so I felt like gray was a safe color choice.

After revisiting my mood board and Pinterest inspiration, I was immediately drawn to the Skye Collection and Loren Collection of rugs. I knew I wanted something vintage-inspired, gray-toned, and that would feel at home in a coastal California home. Ultimately, I choose the Loloi II Skye-01 for this room.

Side note: I would recommend grabbing a rug pad to use with their rugs. Rug pads help your rug to look its best by preventing slipping, bunching, and comfort underfoot. This one is made from recycled materials and can be cut to fit.

Final Rug Thoughts

This rug has been with us for about a month now, and it has already seen lots of dance parties, a few spills, and definitely some sister squabbles.  Just like our other Loloi rugs, I’ve easily been able to clean up spills and vacuumed up at least a pound of crushed cheese crackers. I would call that a win!

I loved the look of the rug so much, that I actually ordered a coordinating rug for the hall leading to our garage entry. It is the Skye-01 Grey Apricot, and coordinates nicely with the other rug, without being too matchy-matchy.

Have you tried Loloi Rugs before? What are your thoughts?
