Quick! What is July 15th?

Did you guess National Clean Beauty Day? A few months ago, I wouldn’t have either! National Clean Beauty Day was created by Juice Beauty last year to educate consumers on conscious cosmetic consumption and to bring awareness to the ‘clean beauty’ movement.

I thought this would be the perfect time to share my current favorite clean beauty products and some resources that I use to learn more about the clean beauty movement. I will never EVER claim to be a makeup expert (seriously, I have the most simple routine and my goal is just to not look like I desperately need a few more hours of sleep), but these products are simple for anyone to use and perfect for my preferred “no makeup” look.

Favorite products AKA what I wear every day on my face:

Merit Beauty The Minimalist Complexion Stick in Amber: A light to medium coverage, super blendable foundation stick that buffs seamlessly into my skin. I blend with my fingers or the Merit Beauty Brush. It looks skin like and doesn’t leave me looking too dewy.

Ilia Multi Stick in Cheek to Cheek: A subtle cheek tint that I can swipe, pat in with my fingers, and go. A++

Merit Beauty Day Glow in Bounce: A totally optional step that I don’t use every day, but is great to have on hand to add a subtle glow.

Ilia Radiant Translucent Powder in Moondance: Ilia describes this as a perfecting powder and that is 100% accurate. I use the corner of a beauty blender to pat under my eyes and on my T-zone where I typically get shiny. Just in the morning before I leave the house because no one has time for touch ups throughout the day. Okay maybe you (we?) do, but I’m too lazy for that.

Merit Beauty Shade Slick in Sangria: A self-proclaimed lip product hater is over here recommending a lip product AND I LOVE IT. This stuff is not sticky, not goopy, and not a weird texture. I am so picky about what I put on my lips and honestly RARELY wear lip products, but I find myself grabbing this throughout the day. A sheer lip tint that feels good on the lips. Yes pls.

Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara in After Midnight

Other Stuff I’m Loving Lately:

I have not ventured completely into the land of all clean products, but as I use up my current skincare, I’m working on finding clean products that work well for me and my skin. Some favorites that I have swapped over to are:

Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm: Are you double cleansing at night? Cause you should be! Totally changed my skin and definitely decreased my breakouts. This is my step one at night. Dissolves makeup and grime from the day. Boom – move on to step two. (PS, also available at Target)

Youth To the People Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser: Step two in my double cleanse at night and my only cleanser in the morning. My skin can be finicky about cleansers – this one makes my skin happy.

Ilia Lip Wrap Treatment Mask: Don’t think you need a lip mask? I didn’t either. But now I’m not waking up three times a night to apply lip balm so…

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40: Facial sunscreen perfection. It feels amazing as you put it on, doesn’t give me contact dermatitis like SO.MANY. other sunscreens do, and can double as a primer under your makeup.

Olive and June Nail Polish and Nail Care Products: If you’ve followed me for longer than I year, you probably remember me raving about Olive and June when I first discovered them at the beginning of the pandemic (aka when I stopped going to get my nails done). The colors are pretty and the polish really does last!

I have been binge watching Manon’s YouTube channel videos over at The Clean Beauty Code. Like all good millennials, the majority of my makeup education has come from YouTube and she’s my current favorite. She also has an Instagram and blog!
